Who I am
My name is Avril Hannah-Jones. I am the minister at the Romsey, Lancefield, Riddells Creek and Mount Macedon Uniting Churches. After spending eighteen months as what the Uniting Church calls a “Ministry Intern” I was ordained on October 5, 2008 and am now a Minister of the Word. So, occasionally this blog will feature sermons and other products of my ministerial life. At other times I’ll blog about absolutely anything upon which I feel like commenting. Pull up a comfy chair and join me!

Avril my dear – just a note to say I will be at your ordination (with camera)! How exciting! I don’t seem to have an email address for you – Google comes to the rescue again
xx
Hey Avril,
I was having one of those I wonder how [insert various peoples names] is going moments. So how are you going?
Congradulations on the ordination. From recollection Riddles creek was hit hard by the fires? It’s great that you’ve found your calling in life. Still trying to find mine.
Well last year saw me back at JCH studying a Masters of Environmental Engineering (by course work) after three years of bumming around doing three summers at camp Merrowvista amoungst other things, none of which invovled using my chemical engineering degree or becoming less reliant upon the income of my parents. Was weird coming back to JCH. I felt like I was in no mansland stuck somewhere between the JCR and SCR and never quite found my feet.
Currently doing a Graduate Dipolma of Outdoor and Environmental Education at La Trobe Uni in Bendigo. It’s quite a change of pace and life style but enjoying the challenge so far. I’ll be heading back over to the US of A or the Land of Frosted Cornflakes as I like to call it during semester break for 7 weeks to continue the good work I’ve been doing over there, which I’m really stoked about. Hopefully in November/early December start out on a two month unsupported bike ride from Perth to the NSW south east coast. Don’t really have a plan after that. Might undertake a BA (Photography)@ RMIT of which I deferred this year, get a job with interpid or the like and travel the world, do a year long internship @ Merrowvista or get an engineering job. We’ll see how it all pans out.
Hope all is well.
Cheers,
Tim.
Dear Avril,
Not pertinent to anything you’ve written, but because I don’t have your email address: thanks heaps for the book Violet Mackerel and the brilliant plot! We really loved that– and so did Ruth– and are planning on getting it for some friends. (I wonder if Violet lives in Daylesford?)
love,
Julie.
I think the Sci fi thing was a very SCm thing to do….well done
