So what exactly is it that I do?
I’m trying to write my report for the various congregational AGMs that are coming up. I thought that it would be interesting to use the vows I made at my ordination to organise the report. But now I realise how much of what I do has nothing to do with the vows I made at my ordination.
Does this mean I’m doing things that aren’t actually part of being a minister; or that the ordination vows cover a very small section of what a minister’s job actually is?
Funerals come in threes
I’m not superstitious about much, but I am about this. I hoped the funeral at the Anglican church yesterday (three in Romsey in seven days) was the third; but a lovely member of the Romsey congregation died on Sunday; his funeral is Thursday; the Romsey Uniting Church will have had three funerals in a fortnight. Then they’d better stop! I am tired and sad and currently really, really not a fan of death.
Pondering
Is it some rule of the universe that funerals never come singly?
